Description

Elevate your iced coffee with homemade spiced brown sugar vanilla cold foam. This recipe creates a thick, velvety foam with distinct layers, perfect for a luxurious, comforting mid-afternoon treat.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch fine sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla extract (for sauce)
  • 1/2 cup cold whole milk, or full-fat oat milk barista blend
  • 1 teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla extract (for foam)
  • 1 tablespoon of prepared spiced brown sugar caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Make the Caramel Sauce: In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar and water. Place over medium heat and stir until sugar dissolves. Stop stirring once dissolved, bring to a gentle simmer, and cook for 3-5 minutes until syrupy; watch carefully to prevent burning.
  2. Add Spices and Cool: Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in cinnamon, salt, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Pour the sauce into a heatproof container and cool completely at room temperature for 20-30 minutes until thick. (Refrigerate briefly if needed to thicken further).
  3. Prepare Foam Mixture: Once sauce is completely cool, combine cold whole milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon of the prepared caramel sauce in a cold foam frother or blender cup. Ensure all ingredients are very cold.
  4. Froth the Cold Foam: Process the mixture in a cold foam frother (30-60 seconds on the cold setting) or blend on high speed for 30-60 seconds until thick and creamy, doubling in volume.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Pour the cold foam gently over your favorite cold beverage, like iced coffee or cold brew. Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the top in a swirling pattern for presentation, adding a pinch of cinnamon if desired.

Notes

Use very cold whole milk or a full-fat barista-style oat milk to achieve the best foam volume and stability. Ensure the caramel sauce is completely cooled before adding it to the milk for frothing. To create a clean layered effect, pour the foam over the back of a spoon held just above the drink.
