These Smash Burger Tacos combine the best of both worlds: juicy, caramelized smash burgers and vibrant tacos. It’s a fun fusion perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 450g (1 lb) Halal Ground Beef (80% Lean)
- 2 tbsp (30ml) Vegetable Oil
- 1 tsp (5g) Sea Salt
- ½ tsp (2g) Black Pepper
- ½ tsp (1g) Smoked Paprika
- ½ tsp (1g) Ground Cumin
- 1 Clove Garlic, Minced
- 4 Small Corn Tortillas (≈6cm/2.5in)
- ½ cup (120ml) Lime Juice
- ½ cup (120ml) Plain Yogurt
- 1 tbsp (15ml) Plant-Based Mayonnaise
- 1 tsp (5ml) Chipotle Powder
- ½ cup (50g) Halal Sharp Cheddar Cheese, Grated
- ½ cup (75g) Red Cabbage, Thinly Sliced
- 1 tbsp (15ml) Rice Vinegar
- 1 tsp (5g) Sugar
- 1 Avocado, Diced (About 150g)
- ¼ cup (15g) Fresh Cilantro Leaves, Chopped
- 1 Radish, Thinly Sliced
- 2 Lime Wedges for Serving
Instructions
- Prepare Chipotle-Lime Mayo: Whisk yogurt, mayonnaise, chipotle powder, and lime juice. Refrigerate.
- Quick Pickle Cabbage: Combine cabbage, rice vinegar, sugar, and lime juice; pickle for 10+ minutes.
- Season and Form Beef: Gently mix beef with salt, pepper, paprika, cumin, and garlic. Form into 4 loose balls.
- Smash the Patties: Sear beef balls in hot oil, smashing to 1cm thickness. Cook 45 seconds per side.
- Toast Tortillas: Lightly oil and toast tortillas for 15 seconds per side.
- Slice Patties: Slice cooked patties into thin strips.
- Assemble Tacos: Fill tortillas with cabbage, avocado, beef, cheese, and mayo.
- Garnish and Serve: Top with cilantro, radish, and a lime wedge.
Notes
For best results, use a cast-iron skillet for maximum browning. Prepare components ahead of time for easier assembly.
