Description

A quick and easy firecracker salmon recipe featuring a bold gochujang glaze, ready in less than 20 minutes for a satisfying weeknight meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 salmon fillets (approx. 67 oz each)
  • 3 tablespoons gochujang paste
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Oven and Salmon: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the salmon fillets on the sheet and pat them thoroughly dry with paper towels.
  2. Mix Gochujang Glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together the gochujang, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, olive oil, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and smoked paprika until smooth.
  3. Glaze and Bake Fish: Spoon about two-thirds of the glaze mixture generously over the salmon fillets, ensuring an even coating. Reserve the remaining glaze. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) and the fish flakes easily.
  4. Reduce Sauce and Serve: While the salmon bakes, pour the reserved glaze into a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium-low heat for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove salmon from the oven, drizzle with the reduced sauce, and garnish with chopped chives and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

To avoid drying out leftovers, store them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in a toaster oven or air fryer at 300°F (150°C) for 5-7 minutes. The glaze can also be prepared up to 3 days in advance.
