Description

This Loaded Steak and Potato Bake is a cozy, filling slow cooker dinner with tender beef, soft potatoes, melty cheese, and savory bits in every bite. It is an easy comfort-food meal that works beautifully for busy nights when you want something hearty without hovering over the stove.

Ingredients

  • 450 g beef steak, cut into cubes
  • 800 g potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 200 g cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 100 g savory plant-based protein bits
  • 100 ml sour cream
  • 50 ml milk
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Step: Warm the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the steak cubes and sear them until they are browned on all sides.
  2. Step: Place half of the diced potatoes into the bottom of the crockpot. Add half of the browned steak, half of the savory protein bits, and a layer of shredded cheddar.
  3. Step: Repeat with the remaining potatoes, steak, savory protein bits, and cheddar cheese.
  4. Step: In a small bowl, stir together the sour cream, milk, garlic, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  5. Step: Pour the creamy mixture evenly over everything in the crockpot.
  6. Step: Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours, or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
  7. Step: The dish is ready when the potatoes are tender enough to pierce easily with a fork.
  8. Step: Remove the lid and scatter the sliced green onions over the top.
  9. Step: Serve hot and enjoy immediately.

Notes

Cooking times can vary depending on the size of the potato pieces and your slow cooker, so check for tenderness as it cooks. You can also switch up the cheese or add extra vegetables for more flavor and nutrition.
