Description

These Air-Fryer Street-Style Corn Ribs are a simple side dish, transforming corn on the cob into crisp-edged, tender pieces coated in a smoky, spicy seasoning, perfect for a family-friendly meal.

Ingredients

  • 4 ears fresh corn on the cob, firm with bright yellow kernels
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, or a neutral cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (for that classic street-style kick)
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • Fresh lime wedges, for serving (or bottled lime juice in a pinch)
  • 0.25 cup chopped cilantro, optional garnish

Instructions

  1. Shuck and Slice Corn: Shuck corn ears and trim their ends. Stand each ear upright on a cutting board, using a firm grip, and carefully slice it into quarters lengthwise with a sharp, heavy knife.
  2. Coat with Oil: Place the corn ribs in a large bowl. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and toss until each rib is lightly coated.
  3. Season Evenly: In a small bowl, combine 1 tsp smoked paprika, 1 tsp chili powder, 0.5 tsp garlic powder, 0.5 tsp cumin, 0.5 tsp salt, and 0.25 tsp black pepper. Sprinkle this spice blend over the oiled corn ribs and toss well to ensure every surface is evenly coated.
  4. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 5 minutes.
  5. Arrange Ribs: Arrange the seasoned corn ribs in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd; ensure there is space between each piece for hot air to circulate. If needed, work in two batches.
  6. Air Fry to Perfection: Air fry for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through (around 6-7 minutes). The kernels should be tender with a slight char at the edges, and they will start to curl noticeably into a (rib) shape. If they look dry or too pale, mist lightly with oil and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

Notes

Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to prevent steaming; cook in batches for best crispness. Ensure even seasoning on all corn ribs for consistent flavor. For extra heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper. For a cheesy twist, grate Parmesan cheese after cooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
